If you could communicate one thing about your child to other parents and the rest of the world, what would it be?
As I have recently posted, I am an author that wrote a book about raising my son with Asperger's Syndrome and a mood disorder. The name of the book is "My Silent Scream." You know your child better than anyone else, yes this includes the doctors! Always get a 3rd opinion and even a 4th opinion until your sure and convinced that its the right diagnosis/decision! Most people have your child best interest in mind but remember that you will always have their best interest at heart! <3
I would like to tell people not to set the bar too low for my little man, or for anyone else! Don't assume because he has special needs that he can't keep reaching higher and higher! He might need a little extra support to get there, but he WILL get there!
There are effective treatments that help everyone on the spectrum. But they are costly. However the cost of not treating will be much greater if we have to care for all these people through out their entire lives.
Autism doesn't define my son, he defines his Autism.
