Hello!

Our son, Carson, was born with profound hearing loss, cataracts, and then was later diagnosed with autism and intellectual and cognitive disabilities.

Honestly, I have found it very difficult to find resources and organizations dedicated to children with multiple disabilities. I've Googled all of the disabilities in one search and that usually leads to helpful information. There are also several facebook groups for families with children with multiple disabilities.

As far as therapy, I recommend starting with your state's early intervention program. They will be able to provide you with great connections.

Regarding healthcare, I recommend selecting a pediatrician who specializes in treating children with special needs. We have been a part of a "regular" pediatrician practice and it has been a very frustrating experience. In joining this website, I hope to be able to find a better fit for our family in this area.

I hope this helps!

Michele
