what can i do to make my son stop flinching at me? i know he does it on purpose.

When I walk near him, or anything at all towards him he flinches or lowers his head, I have never beat him in his whole life, so I don't know where he picked up this habit/behavior, but how can I stop it?

My Johnathan...flinches and ducks at times...but its only when I'm talking loud. I have a big mouth :). I have never beat him either I don't know why...maybe its a sensory thing?

It could be severe sensory issues where just touching him hurts him. I've know a couple kids like that. Most Autistic kids have some sensory issues. Find a good OT that specializes in sensory issues so he can be evaluated. They may recommend techniques such as brushing. Here's a good web site that explains more. http://www.sinetwork.org/about-sensory-processi...

This book also opened my eyes to this complex issue so I started to think about how my son was experiencing his environment. http://www.amazon.com/The-Out---Sync-Child-Reco...(Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators)&sr=8-5&keywords=sensory

I believe it is sensory. My son used to do it also. My son does not like to walk beside of anyone at all. When we are out he walks either ahead of me or behind a few steps.
