I've listened to stupid comments like this for a long time (usually said right in front of my son!) and I used to be patient & try to explain to people that make these kinds of comments but then I realized I don't have to explain my son's issues to anyone! If they ask what ASD is I am happy to educate them. But for a rude comment like "He doesn't LOOK Autistic" my answer is "You don't LOOK stupid." It's rude but it usually gets the point across!

I love it when someone says, "oh I've been doing ABA with Autistic children for 30 years and I KNOW your child is not Autistic!" What a load of bull really! People should keep their mouths shut not knowing!

I say really what does Autistic look like? This usually makes them think and then I explain.

Funny that, I just opened my facebook and one of my so-called 'friends' here posted a poster about a girl throwing a tantrum and the words, "Back in my days, we don't call them behavioural disorders, we call them brats!". To which this so called person responded, "That's what I still call them!"
I was deeply hurt, not that my son has lots of those explosive moments, but because this person is obviously judgmental and doesn't know any better. So to her post, I replied, "You should be thankful you didn't have any of those kids with behavioural disorders; you should thank your lucky stars!"

Well I'm bold. I can not stand when people ask just stupid questions. So I would say "I don't know. But I know what stupid looks like because I'm looking at it." But I'm ridiculous like that.
