This is where we are. My son needs support, and he is on grade level...you need to get recommendations from your doctor and take it to the school. They will do a 504 plan for him which is regular academic program with accommodations

Hi, i went through the same thing as you all. I got myself an educ. advocate and I have been pushing the schools to evaluate my son. They were also telling me he's grade level on everything. Yes he is, but he struggles very hard for it. My advice, keep pushing the schools. Ask the school to evaluate him. Do ADOS testing. If your son is struggling in certain areas, write to the principal. If she doesn't listen, get the higher ups involved. You need to keep pushing and pushing until they finally say, this lady ain't giving up, so i guess we nee to seriously take a look at this kid. Good luck!

do look into a 504 plan. wrightslaw is a site that can give more information on the specifics. Also look into "in home" services these may help with behavior and social skills and sometimes schools are willing to allow occasional outside therapist in to observe and offere input in team decisions.

They are required to give him an eval within 60 days of yyour request put it in WRITTING. Take the eval to a prefessional and get addistional evals from them if they feel it nessasary to find where he is struggling. DON'T. Take the schools interpretation get a second or third opinion. If you can show where he is struggling the school can work on that. IE yes his reading comprehension is grade level his rrading speed not so much.
