Does anyone know how to prevent a child from pulling out a G-tube button?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Chicago Ridge, IL

Recently had G-tube put in because of very poor diet, mostly juices, and some loss of weight. Wants to touch area around tube and I am afraid will eventually pull the tube out. Some people have suggested elbow restraints but I think that is going to make things much worse.

At the facility I work at, we wrap a belly band around it.

We had to use... Err... We called it hospital tape and gauze pads, not sure if it's the correct term but it helped. He still tugs at it once in a while, but now a simple "no touch" works just fine.
