has anyone had experience with a Lawyer to get their child into the correct school setting?

My son's school is closing. He is 2 years behind grade level in a regular education class. We want him in a smaller class. The school he is moving to says we should keep him in public school for socialization. The class size will be increasing because his school is merging with another one. We need a lawyer to help us. I am knowledgeable enough in this field to know I need help.

Has anyone had a teacher (whose specialty is autism) tell you that they cannot teach your child? If so, what did you do about it?
