Anyone Ever Lose Friends Because Of Their Child's Autism?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a friend that this past year was also my sons preschool teacher. During the year I never really noticed that she seemed like she became real distant. The other teacher had mentioned to me that my friend did not really know how to handle Kade when he had his meltdowns. I honestly did not say anything I figured my friend would ask me if she needed help I trusted her and Kade seemed happy enough with school. So now that school has been out two months for Kade and the lack of text messages… read more

Do Your Children Have Friends Who Are On The Spectrum ?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

This is a feel good question, I want to give hope to those who worry their child won't have friends. my son has a few friends who are also on the spectrum . They frequently get together at my house .They are all quirky in their own way , and yet the same . They don't have normal teenage converstaions, but they do have spirited converstaions about things that matter. They argue with each other and get angry and frusrated and the next day can't wait to do it all again. Society doesn't have to… read more

Dad's Middle Name
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son who is almost 15, has a new friend at school that he wants to come over and hang out or sleep over. But my son is grounded per say until he cleans his mess up in the den, his bedroom, and his bathroom. This is his first school friend, should I clean it up so he can have company, or keep waiting for him to clean it up? What do I do?

Is It Me Or Is It Him?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Presume you have a relationship with someone diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, I would appreciate as objective answers as possible please. I want to know if I am the only one who has these feelings.

Do you consider your Autistic child to be different in a special way that gives or has given them a unique perspective on life, that they have something special to offer the world?

Do you feel your child possesses skills that are advanced above typical children and if so what are they?

Do you… read more

What Are Your Feelings On Registering Your Child With Law Enforcement To Alert First Responders Of Your Child's Condition?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm doing a little research for a training our group is putting on in cooperation with the Weber County Sheriff's Office here in Utah. The idea here is to provide first responders and parents the necessary information they need to properly address a situation that might arise with our children in the event they need assistance from our first responders. I would like to get your feedback in whether you would feel comfortable with registering your child with your local first responders. The goal… read more

Constant Talk About Random Things Not True
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else out there deal with this with their children, my son is seven, has autism, ADHD and anxiety. He will talk non stop about random things that are completely not true. It's beyond scripting or repeating things others have said at this point! He will go on about his job and his kids and the car he drives. He was talking about his grown up friend Kevin ( which started out scripting with the name moved up to this) where he lives and his car. I asked my son why do you like to talk… read more
