Not fully recovered yet either, but we have had significant gains since diagnosis and I believe we have decent trajectory/momentum.

While not comprehensive list of ASD issues, we started with ATEC score of 85 two years ago, and now around ATEC is closer to 10, so the list of issues has significantly declined for us - thanks to biomed, therapy and natural play with his NT brother and us. What we have been able to overcome or successfully manage in the past two years are - ADHD, toilet training, stimming behaviors, fine motor control delays, speech delay, empathy/theory of mind deficits, social withdrawal, etc. Conversations started for us about a year ago at 3.5 yrs.

We were never worried about academics as our son has a great memory, so our remaining challenges are now more cognitive in nature - focus/attention on things despite initial failure/lack of interest, social intelligence, and more dynamic/flexible thinking - looking at RDI intervention for these. Our son is in mainstream kindergarten classroom with no support. Two years ago, we didn't know whether all of the above would have been possible, so a little more relaxed but I know this is a marathon, and a lot of effort is still required just to stay on par with his peers.

We are not yet to full recovery, but we have seen dramatic gains. When my daughter was diagnosed 3 years ago she was minimally verbal and lost in her own little world. Thanks to biomed and more recently ABA she now can hold a back-and-forth conversation. She still has delays in language and social interaction, but she was able to move up from a moderate-level autism specific special-ed class to one for general language disorders with the hope of partial mainstreaming next year.

I no longer focus on fixing my kids or 'making them better' or a full recovery, per se. I seek therapy now to help them be their personal best and so they can achieve a good quality of life overall. Acceptance of their differences is still a struggle some days but let's face it... the good things in life are worth my blood, sweat, and tears to me :-).
OK now on to the happy...
My 8yo is able to tell me when he needs or wants things. As recently as 2 years ago his verbal communication was mainly words repeated from favorite cartoons. His physical aggression is noticeably less these days... as his speech improves so has his behavior. He doesn't try to strip naked in public anymore either; that was an issue. And we have kept our fish alive almost 2 years now (goldfish didn't survive over a week before that).
My 10yo has not attempted to do serious harm to either of his brothers for over a year now. He has greatly expanded his vegetable and fruit and healthy foods intake. He actually tells jokes now. His speech has improved a lot and now most people can understand what he says :-). He can do his morning routine independently with a picture schedule. We took the training wheels off his bike this summer!!!
