Has anyone with younger children tried this for their child, if so did you use whipworm or hookworm?
Agreed but a more permanent solution that actually resides in the gut would be helpful - for example, the bacteria B. Fragilis which is part of the human microbiome improved symptoms of ASD in one rat model and also reduced immune marker IL-6. No human trial for that unfortunately though there is one fecal matter transplant trial planned for ASD. If that shows efficacy for subset of kids, that would be more promising longer term solution. Good luck with the trial if you do decide to go with the helminthic route. Haven't heard from anyone who has tried it.
I know about the trial using TSO, but my opinion would be that even if you had to do it in perpetuity it would be worth it if the results are as good as it seems. People take medication for other disease in perpetuity so its not uncommon.
No, but as I understand it even if it works, one needs to do this in perpetuity to retain any benefits (likely via modulation of the immune system). This doesn't sound ideal for the long-run. There is a double blind trial using TSO which will hopefully be published soon but preliminary results were promising.
