A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

It is a form of negligence called medical negligence, I believe, for a parent to not give meds. I’m shocked that DCFS won’t do anything! CPS? My ex is the same but my child is only on meds when she is… read more

Looking For People With Experience Using Intuniv
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 7 years old and in 2nd grade in an inclusion program. He has AD/HD as well as ASD traits and takes Adderall which helps a lot with focus. However, his oppositional and defiant behaviors are getting worse as he gets older, and he has even gotten in trouble for aggressive behavior such as hitting teachers or other students. I am interested if others has had experience with the drug Intuniv as an addition to stimulant AD/HD drugs. Reportedly it can help some kids with behavior. Thanks for… read more

Is There An Attraction To Gluten Foods With Autism?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I don't know if I'm wording this well or not - but after doing some more research on a Gluten-free diet it raised this question for me.

Are kids with Autism attracted to foods with gluten in them? What I mean is that when looking at the foods that my son CAN'T eat while on a gluten-free diet are all of his favourite foods. We have had a terrible time finding foods for my son to eat, and all of them are pretty much gluten based products - So I was wondering if this is natural for Autistic… read more

the food list for SCD makes no sense. Some of the "legal" foods are so bad for people that have common issues. Echinacea for example commonly causes GI pain which is already common with autism. It… read more

What To Do About Toddler Who Will Only Drink Pediasure And Not Eat?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi! My daughter is almost 4 (diagnosed with Lvl3 autism at age 2. She,at the moment, will only drink chocolate pediasure and whole milk (with
chocolate 😒 ) her father and I have tried everything to get her to eat food, but she will not. (Mind you- she did used to eat but very slowly stopped and preferred liquid only, so I really don’t think it could be a jaw issue or anything like that?)We’ll make her a plate and it’ll go untouched each and every time, sometimes she’ll play with the food/throw… read more

No don't take away the pediasure . Don't do the "wait until they get hungry " trust they will go without eating. Starving them is not the answer. I'm sorry I'm in the same boat as you . I'm reading… read more

Is There Any Merit To The Whole No Dairy No Gluten Autism Diet?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I got forwarded some news feed interviews about cutting gluten and dairy and adding omega three to your autistic child's Diet to help manage their symptoms. Is this a legitimate treatment? My son's a milk addict but we can certainly try something else if it'll make his life easier. If not I'd hate to stress him for no reason.

Red food coloring can really cause hyper manic behavior. It is in all kinds of candy, snack foods, processed food and medicines.

If My Son Isn't Allergic To Soy, Do I Need To Eliminate Foods Containing Soy From His Diet To Be GFCF?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We're going gluten and casein (dairy) free. However, some info I read on the GFCF diet says to also eliminate soy. But if my son is not allergic, so I have to do this?

A MyAutismTeam Member

Well with my guy I didn't intentionally cut out soy it just kind of is that way naturally already. He has a sensory issue with food texture so most processed foods are out and those that are in don't… read more

Did You See Any Changes In Your Child After Going Dairy-free And/or Gluten-free?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone changed their child's diet (dairy-free, gluten-free)? What changes did you see?

We are in the beginning process of eliminating my 2 year old daughter's diet of dairy, and just got her off of milk and onto almond milk. She normally has yogurt once a day with her supplements mixed in (DHA and probiotic) but I will change that to applesauce when I get to the store next. Our next step is to go gluten-free, but I know that will be especially challenging because she only eats "white"… read more

I agreed with PatriciaBaca. Autism is for life, so the "diet"/ dietary lifestyle is for life. Changing that at any time will only result in regression and a negative change in behavior. Yes, he should… read more
