My Son Wants A Girlfriend
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son wants a girlfriend. But he still has not stopped pooping his pants. He doesn't do many things because of it. If anyone has ideas on how I can incourge him to poo in the toilet that would be great. He still wears pull ups. Pretty soon he's going to be wearing adult diapers. I'm hoping he will poop in the toilet by then. I know it's not medical. He seen doctors and he's fine. The other thing is he will pee in the toilet just not poop. I have no idea how old your son is, mine is 9 today. My son would pee in the toilet from when he was 3 but refused to poop. We found out it was a sensory issue. When he was 5, we went away during spring break and decided we were going to get it done away from home. My husband sat with him in the toilet for hours on end. We had him drink a lot and gave him to eat a bit too. I gave him a mixture of prune juice also that made him go. It took a total of 5 hrs to get him to poop in the toilet. We also did not have him wear a pullup because we discovered he was depending on the pullup to poop We celebrated and he earned a reward. Does your son have a very preferred activity? You could probably have him work towards that or explain to him that before he gets a girlfriend, he has to learn to poop in the toilet. We discovered there was some degree of fear associated with pooping in the toilet with my son. Also about the age of 7, he was still wearing overnight pullups to bed and one night I forgot to have him wear it, I discovered he did not wet his bed. It gave me the idea to try not having him wear a pullup to sleep. He never had an accident by the way, not for one day but he constantly would pee through his pullup at night and actually wet his bed while he wore pullups at night.

You can use pull ups over underwear to keep clean while needed, but he will still feel mess.
