My daughter refuses to do her work at school. She's super smart, she's only suppose to know 200 site words by the end of the school year & she already knows 239. She's in first grade, we had problems in kindergarten but we also had problems with the school and made a switch last minute and she was able to pass. Go with your gut. You may be better at helping her than what the school can at this point. They may be putting too many demands on her. Are you familiar with Pervasive Defiant Disorder? Read "My Daughter is not Naughty" find it on Amazon. Sounds like Molly in the book. My daughter too wants to be in control. I started homeschooling her last year. She's never been happier.

My son, 7 struggles with homework. we do a check mark system with him and been helping him do his home work. The social worker at my sons school says to give him breaks in between his homework, set a timer. It usually take him 3 hours to get his homework done, now we been doing the check mark system, timer, and having him do his homework when he get home from school, he isn't aloud to play or watch tv until his homework is done. Its been helping a lot now it usually takes him about an hour to do his homework. Also his home based therapist is looking into CLS services for him, where a person comes in and helps with his homework
