My son was not diagnosed with ASD until he was 11, he is now almost 13. Prior to that he was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD. After a reevaluation this summer it was determined he has Asperger's and ADHD. He has always had difficulty with aggression, but some of the more obvious ASD behaviors have increased since starting puberty. (More perseveration, vocal stimming, tantrums, threats, entering others personal space). The school has refused to acknowledge that his behaviors are due to Autism… read more

How do u know if your child needs ABA?
It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT
I need some advice. My son with autism is 12 years old. He has had some issues at school this year (he is in a self contained one on one classroom with all other autistic kids). He has had several explosive episodes where he as hit staff and destroyed the room (threw things on the floor, etc). The school has suspended him a few times and then we found out today that the half days that he is sent home for disruptive behavior also counts as suspensions. With that being said, there is a limit of 10… read more

Thank you so much, sorry for the late response.
We have been going back and forth. With our 25 year old son who is autistic, with aggressive behaviors. My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. There are also no affordable facilities or programs for young adults in our area. As a group we would like to develop a program similar to the one they have at school but lack the funds. I've researched online but was only shown sites to obtain funding for chartering a school which is not what we… read more

That's great.
My 5 year old son often asks me, "Is this a dream?". Do I need to be concerned about this? Is he not understanding reality vs. Fantasy? Could this be a sleep issue? Anyone else have this issue?
Thank you! We will implement the strategies suggested. I'm looking forward to seeing results.
Daughter will not use the toilet, she will sit there (no results). We have tried bribes(toys, candy, videos)panties, pullups, setting her potty chair in the living room, taking her every hour, but nothing seems to work. she doesn't seem to care that she's wet and she will wait and go in her diaper. Any sugestions?
My daughter didn't understand what it was that she was supposed to be doing in there. She had no context for words like potty, poopoo, and peepee. Finally, my wife closed the door and personally… read more
