Co-sleeping Yay Or Nay
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had my two children (6&4) sleeping with me for the last 6 months or so exclusively. Before that, my daughter with sleep issues would get up between 10pm and 3am every night and crawl in bed, or wake up no later than 4am daily, or both. For me it's less disruptive to my sleep to just have my kids in here, although privacy (didn't have much to begin with) goes out the window for the most part. So, I gave up. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks right now. Others in my household don't agree… read more

Most GF Stuff We've Tried Is Horrible. How Do We Change To A GF Diet To Even Try It?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've taken a run at going GF and we end up throwing the stuff out. The taste and texture turns us off big time
My son whom needs it the most won't eat it and we hate the food and recipes we've tried. I'm a great cook and have cooked all my life, but can't find things that are satisfying or taste good. I don't get it when people say,"Oh just try harder. Try it for 6 weeks and see if it works." We've never even lasted a week as the stuff is so gross to us. How do you make the change and… read more

5yr Old Boy With ASD. We Make Just Too Much To For Medicaid Programs, But Too Poor To Pay For The Amount Of Therapy He Needs. Options?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

His school provides bare minimum with therapy. Our kids (only) were once on Medicaid and it seemed to provide pretty decent therapy throughout the week, however, with a pay bump at my job, and my wife now going back to work, we are just over the threshold for Medicaid. Private therapy is something that I know is worth it but again cannot simply afford it. Meanwhile our son has gone on 25min tangents in his classroom to the point where the teachers are growing intolerant. What are options for us… read more

Natural Supplements To Deal With Uncontrollable Laughter
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone

This is is my first time posting.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Has anyone ever dealt with uncontrollable laughter.

I have recently been struggling to get my son to stop this behavior.
He Only calms down when is on clonidine. When the medication wears off he can go on and on.

Does anyone know of any natural medication, or supplements that can help keep him calm when is not on clonidine.?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m Desperate For Sleep Help!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have two sons with Autism (but 4 sons total). This is not my 1st rodeo with sleep issues as it took forever to get our older son with ASD to sleep all night. Our 2 yr old son with ASD is up every 2-3 hours all night long and has been this way since birth. This is especially hard since we just had a new baby and the baby sleeps more than our 2 yr old! He wakes up for no reason and is sometimes just wide awake. Sometimes will go back to sleep after 10 minutes, sometimes after 2-3hrs… read more

Hi Guys. Great Agency With Autism Nannies Denver CO.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I wonder if you know of nannies for autistic kids but who provide the nannies themselves. So I'll have a manager to talk to. We live in Denver Co.

Thanks

I have not heard of agencies that specialized. What do you want them to do? One thought would be to find a regular nanny agency and outline special conditions for autism that are needed and maybe… read more

Where Are Good Places For Therapy In Nashville, TN
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm am looking to relocate to the Nashville "area." I'm probably going to end up in Dickson Co, but don't mind to drive into Nashville or Franklin for services. I'm looking for suggestions for medical care across the board. I'll need to set my son up with a new pediatrician, OT, SLP, and hopefully ABA. Any suggestions on where to get these services would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
