5yr Old Boy With ASD. We Make Just Too Much To For Medicaid Programs, But Too Poor To Pay For The Amount Of Therapy He Needs. Options?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

His school provides bare minimum with therapy. Our kids (only) were once on Medicaid and it seemed to provide pretty decent therapy throughout the week, however, with a pay bump at my job, and my wife now going back to work, we are just over the threshold for Medicaid. Private therapy is something that I know is worth it but again cannot simply afford it. Meanwhile our son has gone on 25min tangents in his classroom to the point where the teachers are growing intolerant. What are options for us… read more

From Brazil To The US With A 3-year-old
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband and I are from Brazil, but we're planning on moving to the US (San Francisco, New Jersey or New York) to have better treatments for our 3-year-old son.

Here we have speech therapy twice a week and ABA sessions four times a week. School is regular, he doesn't get to participate at a special needs classroom.

My husband will be transferred by his company, he works with IT. He gets health insurance by his company.

My one-million-dollar question is which place will be best in terms… read more

CA mandates that insurance not cap all therapies for autism. I'm not 100% sure on NJ, but I believe so, and believe NY has the $47k cap. I had only done primarily research on various states. If you… read more

Why Is It Hard To Get Others To Believe Your Child Most Likely Has Autism? (Wait Listed For A Screening In Our State)
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I work in early childhood education and while we can’t diagnose we can screen and refer. I did our screenings on my daughter and with the results consulted for a screening and have been placed on a wait list. Unfortunately in our area the wait list is almost 2 years long. I am struggling to get support from those around us as it’s hard for them to believe she would have autism. My parents especially, I know it’s contributing to outdated views. Any advice?
