I have asked same question before, and I was so thankful for all responses I got. Now since I know New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania are my best bet, I want to know within those 3 states which towns, counties or cities are the best or second best when comes about services for kids with autism. I have two son's in the spectrum and I am desperate to get them better care, living in Texas is not working for us, I know my kids with the right support are capable of doing much more than what… read more

I've read that time outs should be as many minutes as the child's age. (See "1-2-3 Magic" for more on Time-Outs).

Does anyone else with a toddler who has an ASD (my daughter is high functioning) have MAJOR sleep issues? As in, HOURS to get them to bed, and up for HOURS in the middle of the night throwing tantrums?
She "needs" anything and everything... a drink, back scratched, her blankets just right, someone to lay with her.
Then, when it's time to leave, it's "I'm not feeling so good."

Hi everyone does anyone live in Tennessee specially the warren county area I live in McMinnville and looking to know and make friends with anyone close. Would love to make friends and support each other.
Our son is non speaking but does FC so he told us when we moved to Vancouver Island from Manitoba, that everything was perfect but he had to work. So he is now doing 4 newspaper routes but all in one day. Because people speak to him and he doesn't answer, we accompany him on all the routes. I'm 76 and there are days when I am finding it tough. So I would like to get him another job where he could work on his own without our being present. Also, he only receives 8cents a paper so that is a lot of… read more
I was lucky to work in a space by myself. That worked great but not everyone can.
I keep getting targeted ads for this company and their drums, I guess because I've been googling and looking into more non traditional therapies like music/sound therapy.
It didn't even occur to me to search for one cheaper on amazon!! Thank you for the idea! I'm going to order one of the Hopwell ones. The sounds these drums make remind me of big windchimes, which he… read more
Reluctant household really, but especially my six year old ASD son. I feel I need someone to come over and help me make a plan on how to introduce meals. I read the web sites everyone sends me to, but none of it addresses what do you do if you have a stubborn child that would rather not eat then try new foods and not get the foods he is used to eating. How do you change that? My hubby and I find the GF good in general gross and it is hard for us to eat it, but we have more food options like… read more
