Hi, Has Anyone Used TheraPeeds In Fla? Asking For A Family From Abroad With A Tween Boy Who Is Looking Into This Center.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am a psychologist in Santiago, Chile. The family has been given this resource to address extreme tantrums and frustration tolerance issues. The center seems very expensive. Their own testimonials give positive reviews. I an wondering whether anyone has gone through their behavioral training for individuals and families and what your experience was like?

A MyAutismTeam Member

I agree that what happens before the behavior and how it is handled play a part in maintaining the behaviors.

My grandson is getting in trouble at school because he’s pushing or biting other kids. We’ve had many conversations, but he always gets easily frustrated and reacts this way. How do we help him?

My Wife Hit My Son. How Should I Process This?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Quick synopsis: my son is 14 and has been using aggression since about age 8. He probably has 2-3 instances per month at school/ABA, and maybe 3-4 instances per year at home. It's usually a single hit/slap and then maybe restraint until he calms, which is usually within 10-15 minutes
This morning, while home sick with a cold, my son needed bathroom assistance. My wife was helping him since I was in a work meeting. I heard screams and ran upstairs to help and my son was pulling my wife's hair,… read more

Things are going to fast at school for him.
He needs a 'Cool-Down' time of 5 to 15 minutes between events so he can collect himself before going to the next task.

Hitting And Kicking
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son just turned 3 he has been having behavor problems for the past 6 months or so. He hits and kicks, and head butts. He mostly only does it to me. We had a behavioral Theropist come out, she suggested I just walk away. My son can run. He would never just let me walk away. I've tried spanking it seems to upset him but, not enough to stop what he is doing. Anyone have any suggestions I might try. What worked for you?

Anyone Having Difficulty With Their Child's School Regarding Autism IEP Eligibility And Suspensions?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son was not diagnosed with ASD until he was 11, he is now almost 13. Prior to that he was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD. After a reevaluation this summer it was determined he has Asperger's and ADHD. He has always had difficulty with aggression, but some of the more obvious ASD behaviors have increased since starting puberty. (More perseveration, vocal stimming, tantrums, threats, entering others personal space). The school has refused to acknowledge that his behaviors are due to Autism… read more
