What do you encourage for independent play. Be have drawing and puzzles down but can't seem to find anything else she'll take interest in. She's almost 3 and electronics are not an option at this time.
Musicial instruments is a thought. I'd love for her to learn to play something. :)
Overnight diapers.

Children can't totally control their need to go until puberty I know it sounds far out but it's not really. I remember a kid in 4th grade had an accident in class kid terrorized him for it. I recall… read more

When I was around eight years old, I began to have anger issues. I had outbursts, would call people names, and would even hit others. It came to a head when I slapped my grandmother in front of my family. My mother took me to a therapist and after three or so months I was much better. She didn't conclude I was Autistic for some reason, but that's a whole other story.
My son avoids conflict. He only hits himself if he's stressed out & overwhelmed. He's never had any angry outbursts or anything like that. I try to keep a very positive, calm & relaxing environment… read more
Has anyone heard of or used a curriculum called "Social Thinking Theory"? This is something the Little Man's developmental pediatrician recommended. Basically, it is teaching kids to be aware of others and to teach them "expected" vs. "unexpected" behavior in various situations, etc... I haven't started looking around too much yet, but this is their website:

I’ve heard that too much screen time causes autism. And that you can improve autism by spending more time with your child.
Screen time does NOT cause autism. Autism starts in the womb, caused by nothing other than the fact that we are all created to be who we are for a reason 😊 The world needs neurodiversity! Screen time… read more
My 14 year old daughter with autism likes to grab other's hands and either dig her nails into them or will squeeze your fingers together very hard. She does it both when she's happy and when she is agitated or overstimulated. I have a hard time interacting/playing with her because she does this and it is extremely painful. We are working on ways to redirect her when she does this but has not been successful. Any suggestions on how to redirect or decrease this? We have tried giving her other… read more

I ask because I often recognize behaviors in my mother—one-tone voice, being distant, can't always Identify sarcasm, fixation with certain topics (for her it's religion), and subsequently interpretation of information as literal
Once in a while, she tells me things that are only half true or not at all. On Vaccines, fertility, or politics. (we don't need to open that can of worms)
I looked at childhood photos of her and she seems to stand out. As for her and her four siblings, she's often not… read more
