Has Any One Had Their Child Declared Legally Incompetant ?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My child is currently on probation for verbal assault. He had the police called on him sat when one of his bullies said brad pushed him off his bike (brad has not been physical since being medicated) so he might get prob. violated for that... have heard of other parents of teens having them declared mentally incompetent to protect them. Am especially worried because he's soon to be fifteen and still wanders off and has this terrible tendency to be at the wrong place at the wrong time when he… read more

How Do I "fix" The Screaming?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 3 year old son with autism resorts to screaming when he's upset because he didn't get his way, he didn't agree with the transition, he's tired or overstimulated, etc. it's really bad at church! I don't know if he's associated church with the screaming or if it's because there are about 200 people in one room with interaction, lights, music, etc. He's very verbal, so we try to teach him to "use his words" but in the middle of a screaming episode, that's obviously not effective. I've… read more

How Would You Discipline An Aspie W/anxiety Over Hacking And Stealling $350 From The Household?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 10 year old Aspie hacked my iTunes account by watching me type in the password for a number of months and figuring it out on his own and then bought games and stuff for the games last night to the tune of over $350. It wiped out our bank account, all our money for food and gas. I contacted the bank about fraud before he confessed, I didn't know he did it because he isn't supposed to have the iPod after 6pm. So there are a number of levels of misbehavior here. He is obsessed with… read more

Behavior Problems In Special Ed
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Anybody have trouble with behavior problems and the law? Our son's special ed teacher developed a bad habit of calling in the school officer when he had a behavior explosion. The officer started calling the county attorney about charges and they decided they would charge him. Now my 15-year-old has 5 charges against him that will now involve a probation officer and a fine. Do other communities involve the police in the school special ed department?

Son Is Starting HS Soon And This Application Process Has My Anxiety At An All Time High!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Good Evening everyone!

I have been an emotional wreck all day today. High School Application deadline is closing in & after reviewing so many options, I can't make a decision. I live in NYC and I want to find a suitable school for my son but either a school is too far, school is too big or the school atmosphere just seems too rough. My son has never rode a bus before to school because his school was always right across the street so we would walk. This is a big adjustment for him and knowing… read more

I know how you feel but change is necessary. I'd say step out on faith. Even though we may not know the outcome of change, it just might turn out to be the best things for him.

What Has Your Experience Been In The Faith Based Community? Do You Still Go To Church Or Stop Because Of Behaviors?
