In North Carolina insurances (not even Medicaid) don't cover not even ABA!!! I truly believe North Carolina in one of the worsts places to raise a child on the spectrum in the US. Is possible use this law as a precedent here in North Carolina?
Medicaid does cover ABA therapy in North carolina now. My son receives it everyday. After typing i realized this post was 4 years ago! 😐
Just curious how ABA therapy works in states requiring insurers to cover it. I work for the Feds and the federal health plan didn't cover ABA for years. OPM now "encouraged" to offer it, but they're not mandated. I've read plenty from my fellow federal employees with autistic children, and the handful of plans covering ABA are a joke. For anyone in MAT land receiving ABA through your medical plan, how is it working? Also , Autism Speaks should have a list of states mandating ABA coverage.

My husband has a job offer in houston, and to continue to pay for the ABA, speech and ot we need insurance. Every health insurance company I have talked to either wont cover us because he is autistic or because they flat out do not cover mental health. HELP!!! Any suggestions?? on who to contact to get my son covered we want it to be someone who will be in network with a aba school in houston perferably.

As a parent who will soon have a working young adult child starting soon and I don't want him to lose his SSI if any of you parents or anyone who understands that my question is for example like do you work two days or just the weekend from what-to-what hours. I definitely continue with his therapy.
