It's hard for me to slow down. When my body says to rest but my mind says go-go-go. Battles that rage in my head daily.
As evident I'm a work-o-holic. From the time I get up until I go to bed, I'm working. A Full-time Job and at least two passion projects that I try to give attention to every day.
@A MyAutismTeam Member this resonates with me a LOT! I'm glad I don't ruminate like I used to.

We have recently started to have an issue with our 3 year old wandering. Our house is locked down like an army camp (indoor and outdoor cameras, locks, alarms, etc. He seems to be drawn to water and other very dangerous situations. We moved about one month ago to our new home and last week he escaped around 7pm (after placing his shoes by the door which I believe was strategic), and made it about a block away. He will be 4 in April.
We had to secure windows in the upstairs of our home out of… read more
@A MyAutismTeam Member: I felt like I had to keep an eye on my brother constantly. I eventually got used to not being able to have eye contact with people because I would usually have to talk and keep… read more
I live in Logan and my son goes to Mount Logan Middle School. He is behind on reading. I was told that they would have the technology to help him with reading in his other classes but apparently they don't have the funding for this type of technology. I am wondering if there are any tutors in the area that could help with reading.

My son just turned 15. For the past couple of years he has had this obsession of throwing technology.
He use to love to pay with his tablet, computer, Wii, DS, etc. Now he won't even touch a TV remote.
He gets irritated at the smallest glitch, such as slow speed, hitting a wrong button, etc. He feels like if this happens he has no choice but to throw the item.
He's been through therapy and tried hypnosis, but nothing has helped. I want him to be able to use technology for fun and work. Any… read more

Did anyone try PEMF (Pulsed Electro-magnetic Field Therapy) for your kid? someone tried BEMER mat for autistic kid and this helped his focus, tantrums and behavior. I heard there are other PEMF mats that will be helpful.
Any experiences or suggestions?
I am involved with BEMER and I have seen 3 different children get results you would only call miraculous. I suggest you look more into it from whoever you heard about it from

Our son is smart, but difficult to get him to do his schoolwork/homework. He loves to work on the computer and I think this may inspire him. His teachers think it's a good idea, but we can't afford one now.
Look up free grants for ipads for children with autism. If your son's teachers can include letters of recommendations, it will help in the grant process.
My son Dylan has a form of Autism called Aspergers , He is having a lot of trouble in school and failing some classes because of his attention and mostly his writing in English , writing and math. Last year he had an therapist that had an old iPad and he used it with the Dragon Dictation app and emailed stuff to teachers or showed them and was on the A honor roll once and the distinguished honor roll ! , but he doesn't have that anymore and we cant afford one and is struggling bad ! Anyone on the IEP team can request an assessment and as his parent, you are a member of that team. So, they can't deny it. When I know one of my children will benefit from a service that they aren't… read more
Anyone’s nonverbal child not use pecs much, but go to using an AAC? Our son gets the point of exchanging a picture for something, but doesn’t necessarily give us the right picture. It feels likes pecs are a waste of time for him. Any experience is greatly appreciated.
My daughter didn't really connect well with PECS. She seems to be much more interested in technology so it was a smoother transition teaching her to use an AAC device. Her school will be providing it… read more
We are having a terrible time keeping track of the tons of emails, meetings, phone conversations, action items and incidents related to our son's school. Does anyone know of a good piece of software that will help us track these things in a searchable database? I'm almost thinking of something like a CRM system used in call centers.
Microsoft Outlook with the calendar? Use the sort function of an Excel table? I'm an idiot with technology but I can do that stuff.
