Would you be willing/comfortable to hire some one to do a functional analysis of a target behavior and write up a plan, possibly train staff in addition to of course training/modeling with family if they had years of experience, and references, but not a BCBA (board certified behavioral anaylist) but they are taking courses to become certified? also knowing that the cost would be much less than a BCBA would charge?
its worth doing a few interviews, if you feel the person is good ft. maybe set up installment plan for pay , incase you decide it is not working
Our daughter started holding her ears almost constantly starting Fri, it sometimes seems like she is wincing in pain, and she has not had much appetite or many bowel movements in the last 3-4 days. Whatever pain she is dealing with is making her incapable of doing anything much. She just wants to hold her ears at meals and not eat. When we get her out of bed in the morning she just wants to bury her head in the pillows and not get out of bed. Do you think she is dealing with headaches or… read more

My daughter is about to turn 7 (she was diagnosed when she was 2 with moderate autism) and is becoming more aggressive when she doesn't get her way or is told "no" and she's recently started to cause self injury, I'm not really wanting to have to put her on medication for this but I have been reading about "Risperdal" what are your thoughts on this and has anyone used this to help their child with autism to help with their aggression, self injury or temper tantrums?
Just two weeks ago I noticed that my 2.5 year gets upset when I give her a broken cracker vs. a whole cracker. This was never an issue. I don't know if I should give her whole crackers to avoid a meltdown or give her broken crackers on purpose to get her used to the idea that we don't always get whole crackers.
It is called a MELTDOWN. You can look it up on the internet. Autistic children hate any type of change. My son is 30 yrs old, and if anything is changed he has a Meltdown. There is a difference… read more
My son who has High Functioning Autism, for years has had food issues and not just being a picky eater. He will sneak food and hoard it, mostly stuff that is carbs and sugar. We have very little of that in the house but he finds ways, like eating pure sugar or coffee creamer. It's gotten so bad that we now have a lock on the fridge. Lately he's taken this sneaking to a new level and is stealing stuff from stores, like a snickers. He hides the evidence in his room and we find random bottles of… read more

I'm trying to incorporate the early start denver model into our therapy plan. My 2.5 year old daughter is currently getting traditional ABA. I want to incorporate a greeting routine that I read about, but don't know the specifics. She is just learning to imitate words and inconsistently will imitate a wave. Any ideas from parents that implement a greeting routine. The therapist usually comes every morning for 2 hours.

I am interested in the Seascape Private School homeschool curriculum. I like that it is secular, can be customized, and other features the program has to offer. Every review I read is positive, however I was hoping someone on this site has had experience with the program.
