And yes he is still in public school. He has been his whole life. As far as I know.. He has been well taken care of and looked after.
Out of pure desperation, my wife is seeking possibilities with alternative treatments. One of mom's in school (we just started LEAP program) recommended and said it did miracles for her. I honestly find it hard to believe, too good to be true and opportunism of the 'doctors', exploiting our desperation and fear. But i'm open to all opinions, please
Thanks in advance,
guto
Anybody who promises a "cure" is overhyping their treatment. But that does NOT mean that it's all just snake oil and you should just stick to pharmaceuticals and ABA. Pharmaceuticals have their… read more

My son is 7 years old. a good friend offered to give my daughter (age 9) a horse. She can either choose an adult (that would need to be trained) or a colt that she can have in 3 years. My worries are that my son with ASD would get hurt around the horse. He is not scared of anything, however reading about hippotherapy, horses are very therapeutic. Any thoughts??
I think I will look into some places close to home that does hippotherapy. I don't think it is safe to have a horse in my back yard. Gaetano has already sneaked outside and into the fish pond.
Personally, I have been telling my son, and at some times with a louder voice, not to do something that he isn't allowed to do or something that can cause injury to himself or others. I try to explain it to him that if he does something that can cause injury to himself or others, it can make ouchies or pain, maybe even go to hospital.

All an ASD kid is thinking.. I'm getting spanked. they don't relate it to the behavior at all (again talking classic autism) this is why punishment is just cruel.

Oh gosh i can't remember, sorry
We recently moved to the new area. Our kids are attending a new youth group and I am a bit torn. Should I tell the youth leaders about our son's autism or not?
I have unfortunately had the opposite experience with telling. negativity, people stating they don't work with special needs kids, being excluded.
I would love to hear any opinions from parents whose children have attended or are currently attending Clark County School District's autism preschool program. I am currently in the process of enrolling my son and do not know anyone who has utilized this service. Do you love/dislike a certain school or teachers? Any great or terrible experiences to share? ANYTHING helps!
