Help Finding Respite Services In The North Houston Area.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My wife and I haven't had a vacation in 7 years and really need to get away...just for a weekend would be great. Problem is finding someone who can deal with our youngest. We don't have any family that help and I'm willing to pay for a weekend sitter.

Does anyone have any advice on how to find one in the north Houston area?

BTW...I've already gotten on all the state and federal 'lists'.

I advertised at the local university to find a psychology student. We have gone with college students because they tend to be interested in autism. If you were closer by, I'd offer to trade sitting with you. We are in Clear Lake and have 8 year old twins with autism. Hope you find someone good!

I am a nurse, live in NW houston, Magnolia, and if you call me to discuss your child's needs, I believe my family would be happy to watch your youngest for a weekend. A mental break is so important. I have been fingerprinted for my RN license, you can run criminal history checks. If you need a break, call us! (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators).

I live in Ca, and the regional center has agency that provides people to you. you can ask your regional center if they can help you, to find people. The agency here, done a background check, child abuse, and training in cpr class. also you can ck to see if other home health care agency accept respite, and they can find some some to come to your house. another thing, if you know another parent with special needs child, you would trade respite hrs with them, to take care of your child, and you in turn do the same thing, when you need a break. Hope this helps.
