Looking For Bathroom Reminder Waterproof Charts.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Brad is having some hygiene issues and as a teenager he's getting to big for me to man handle into a bathtub and force him to take a shower. When he does get in there he often forgets to wash his hair etc.

Nope but it's easy to make one yourself. Take or find pictures on the internet. Print them in order. Then get them laminated. If you don't have a laminatator you can go to a print shop or someplace like that. Review it with your guy before each shower. Post them in the shower so he can refer to it.

If he is resistant to what Jill has shared, have him working for something he wants. That is what we do with ours, and it makes a difference.

Also, if he is "higher-functioning," he will want the good opinion of young ladies, an employer (especially if he can be brought to understand intellectually that the employer's good opinion results in money), etc. in time.

We can always tell when our son likes a young lady... suddenly there's no food on his shirts, and he hops in the shower without complaint, even though it drives him batty from sensory overload.

When he got a work-study job at school, the same thing happened... he even shaved without being told!

thanks for all the ideas! we're gonna give it a whirl and see what happens... we decided on a listed word chart rather than pics - he's less visual. I also bought a thing of bathroom chalk and wrote wash your hair on the wall! we'll see!
