My son will be 10 in May and still will only eat baby food for meals. He will eat Doritos and pringles so I know he doesn't have a chewing or swallowing issue. Everytime we try to give him "big boy" foods he throws up, has anyone had this issue? I have taken him to several feeding teams but my insurance runs out and it costs too much to continue
Mom2PDD I know that feeling very well, I have tried just about everything and he still won't eat, like I said he eats pringles, doritos and oreos like a champ but won't even try a chicken nugget. I got a baby bullet and am going to try to puree my own foods, but he tends to be brand specific, so I hope that works
Yes Lindsey, I get 60 consecutive calendar days per year, soooooooo if I take him everyday for 2 months they will pay but I take him once or twice a week for a year they won't, doesn't make sense. Also, we have to travel about 60 miles each way to get to the therapists, there are none in this area
My son is the same way....I am so frustrated! He also is 10, eats about 10 different foods of all varieties, but when I try to give him something else, he either refuses to try it or if I can bribe him into tasting it, he will gag and/or throw up. I have taken him to various doctors and therapists and they all tell me not to worry. He will eat when he is ready. I fail to believe this though. We have been dealing with this since he was 2. So, first of all, I feel your pain and second if I find out anything that can help, I will post it.
My son ate all the way up to the "Gerber Grads" and some doritos and cheetos my mom introduced him to ...lol anyways...He just completely quit all of it!! a yr and a half of pediasure . and every 3 months of checking his liver, kidney, thyroids, etc...and that pediasure kicks butt...anyways...we put a full body bib on him and with puddings and whip creams...we would swipe it across his lips as he would turn away not to taste it...well I decided to try that no wheat, no dairy, "diet"...and whatever it was ...he just started eating the homemade "chicken nuggets" oh his favorite was pancakes with drizzled honey....EVERYONE acturally loved the food i was making with him watching and / or helping ...even choosing from the receipts and take it slowly. It truly may be allergies...of some sort...food colorings, additives? PS his pediatrician told me that she knows of a child that ALL THEY WOULD EAT WAS THE LITTLE CRUNCHY THINGS FROME LONG JOHN SILVERS BASKETS....So...be positive and try something new...
I have tried so many feeding teams with no luck, I just hope as he gets older I might be able to talk him into something
