I have openings for a few more clients. I have excellent references from many parents in the area. If you'd like to chat, send me a message.
I don't know about Europe's schools at all. I do not yet have my BCBA. When I took classes at UCLA with Ivaar Lovaas (the one who started ABA) there was no such certification. I will be attending UC Denver if I get into their program. Someone who knows what they are doing will not stick to strict 10 trial formats if it is not working for the Child. They will also know to keep they're facial expressions and eyes from giving away the answers, as well as randomly arranging the items that the child must learn. I have seen it done poorly by more than a few "trained" professionals.
I haven't actually checked out NJ myself, but I remember an old client going there to check out their program. I think it was linked to one of the universities there. Universities that teach ABA (like UCLA) often have programs that uses students to teach ABA to other students while they work with kids. This gives you a large population to help staff your child. You will want a well known program. I worked with a program out of Kansas and it was very inferior to the program out of UCLA. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
It depends on your insurance whether or not ABA is covered. Most of the insurances won't cover my services unless it is overseen by someone with a Masters in ABA or like field. ABA in Colorado is not that great. The best place in the past was Calif., but I do not know about now because of their financial problems. I do know that a family I worked with got 40hrs/wk of a mix of ABA/school for her sons from the school district in Sacramento. I have heard that New Jersey is also pretty good.
Tracey, I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment...maybe I could help?
Wish you were in the Denver area:(
