My son knows he is lying because he told us & his doctor he was lying to get what he wants. He knows it's wrong & we don't condone lying; period. Our society has become too lei ant on those that lie & in the end it will catch up to you. Just read about the Sandusky case in Pa about what happens when people lie; most are now going to prison or are in prison. Also there is an on going investigation in Pa on fraud abuse by the executives of the Toll Road board.
My wife & I go over what happens to people when they lie & my son is starting to get it; it just takes time.

My son is 9 & is a chronic lieer. In fact Child Services came out to our house because of his lies. It's not a pleasant feeling knowing your son just lets the lies fly but once we knew the root cause we started to work with him & he sees a therapist weekly about this & other behavior issues.
He was lying for example because he wanted to leave now so he told the doctor what he wanted to hear. He was upset with his dad because he couldn't get his way so he told his teacher the bruise was from his dad hitting him. My son falls over a blade of grass, his shoe lace, the dog & so forth & the teachers knew this but instead of asking for meeting with my son's parents they called Child Services; not a pleasant feeling having them come to our door on his birthday.
I know there our books on this subject but for our son his attention span is very short so he would get upset with us & tell us he was done listing to us so we had to find other ways of getting the message across & again with the help of his therapist we are working with on this & now the school is finally on board with this also.

The truth a a story that really did happen. A lie is a story we tell that we know is not true and didnt happen. Then use a simple example like the color of a cup; for instance the cup is pink and u say its yellow.
