Daughter Upset When I Wipe Her
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My four year old daughter is not potty trained yet. When she goes #2 and I have to wipe her, she gets really upset. She will let me wipe her butt, but when I go to wipe her front part, she gets really upset and locks her knees so I can't clean that area. Is it that she is becoming aware that that area is private or could there be an issue I need to look into?

Oh my gosh I could have written this ! But it's the opposite, it's poop that's the issue and she will kick me so hard every time I try to wipe. I've tried lettering her do it but she doesn't go far enough back so I have to help which still makes her mad. I'm not sure what is the issue, my thought it is sensory and I have NO idea how to help her, but I mean it's poop I can't let if sit there 😭

I would check it out...but if there doesn't seem to be any issue maybe she just doesn't like it...could be a sensory thing....can you try letting her do it?

Those wipes irritated my twins backsides like nobodies business. We used them fir two days and their tushies were red and raw, not minor irritation for sure. We got the ones for sensitive skin and never had another problem.

Maybe I could try these homemade wipes I use on my son when he has a bad diaper rash. It contains only baby shampoo and baby oil.

I had her pedi look down there at her check up and her pedi said it looked a little irritated but otherwise nothing looked abnormal. We are wiping front to back. I use those flushable wipes for toddlers. Maybe I will try the warmer and see if that makes it better.
