While there seems to be solid evidence (I found five research articles) linking autism and other neurodevelopmental defects and exposure to Valproate in-utero, the resultant behaviors are likely to be very heterogeneous based on the observations of the clinicians doing these studies. That is, they included a large battery of symptoms or diagnostic criteria in the cohort. We find as many overlapping common behaviors in our own kids. Interesting thought though.
