I have friends with kids on the spectrum, who ask me how Will behaves well. We have tried many my youngest son on many medications over the years. Two years ago they now have this test that was developed at Children's in Cincinnati. It was so amazing. It takes genetic markers and tells you what medications would be best for your child. I strongly suggest this for parents frustrated by the old standard of try and let's see.
No just a cheek swab! Your pediatrician does need to send the lab work to them.
I would love to know what this was specifically and does the pediatrician write up the test? Blood test? Thanks
I unfortunately don't. I can ask my doctor next Tuesday when I go for my daughters' appointment.
My son is on Trazodone, Zyprexa, Clonidine, Invega, Singular, Vitamen D, Buspone, & multivitamin. They tested the first 4 against his DNA and they came back to use on him.
No it is a test of your child's DNA against the medicines that could be used. I really was surprised how well it worked with Will. The medicines listed on the report were the exact ones we used and they work perfect.
