Curious, are there children diagnosed as level 2/3 that are able to ever communicate verbally successfully? Our son is 2 1/2 and non verbal currently. Hes in speech therapy 4xwk and im wondering if verbal communication could be a possibility down the line? As long as hes able to communicate with us in some fashion i guess thats all that matters but how wonderful would it be to hear him talk.

Is anyone else having a hard time making friends with other autism parents in their area? I attend a lot of autism meetings and programs and its so hard to connect with other parents. I try to reach out but it's hard for some reason. Are we really that closed off due to our circumstances that we can't create bonds and sometimes come across stand-offish?It would be nice to talk to local parents but after 7 yrs, I have no friends in my circle that truly understand my life.

Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). I've been trying to find a support group for parents of adult children on the autism spectrum for a long time. My son and I live in a small town, so resources are very limited.

So, I saw this add for a program for our kids that claims 100% positive results. Apparently, it is tailored to each individual child to take specific steps to improve their behavior, diets, social skills, etc. without the use of ABA. I heard n read autistic kids are never independent, they dont work, they dont get married. I cant have my life stop bc of her. Im going through a rough time. Trying to get divorced it is not working out here. But what hope do i have for her? I have a younger one, she is normal.. what should i expect in the future. Will my life be stuck, will i be able to move on? Enjoy a happy life ever? Or will it always be fustrations?
