My 7 Yo Son Keeps Taking His Clothes Off Everytime He Goes In The Backyard
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Should I let him run around naked and play in the grass outside ? Or should I make him put clothes on ? I’m just concerned about what the neighbors will say . We have a 10ft wall around so they won’t be able to see unless the little kids next door peek over which they did yesterday . I need opinions... he seems happy playing outside .

How Do We Tell My Sons Girlfriend He Has Aspergers
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 16 and was just diagnosed with Aspergers. He has been dating a girl for 2 years, but she lives over a hour away. Since they hardly see each other she doesn't realize the extent of his symptoms. My husband and I are extremely nervous on how to tell her and her parents the news. As anyone had experience in this? It will crush him if she breaks up with him because of this.

I would leave that decision to your son. 16 is a little too old for mom to disclose information like that without his consent, from a 16 year old's point of view anyway. I would be afraid you might… read more

Reverted Toileting
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 7 year old (moderate to severe ASD) was completely toilet trained until about 6 months ago when he reverted back to 'pooping' in his underwear. He will not go in public but only at home (thank goodness). We are finding ourselves cleaning /showering him numerous times each day and are beginning to get frustrated with this ongoing issue. He will sometimes go on demand (we know he has to go as soon as he gets home from school), but he normally fights this by yelling or jumping up and down on the… read more

Had that issue too, except no pullups, cause he was too old for pull ups. We had to work with him on certain underwear he liked by letting him pick them out, ensuring he wasn't constipated after the… read more

Aba
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

How do u know if your child needs ABA?

A MyAutismTeam Member

It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

Do We Send Our Autistic Son To Public School?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

what do we do as far as school? our son explodes and is very disruptive, i can not picture him in that environment at all. we just moved here to Alabama and it is much different than where we lived previously. getting everything set up again is overwhelming. and on top of it all my wife recently lost her job because our car broke....we live in a tiny town and we just don't know where to start here? any input is greatly appreciated.

After kindergarten we chose to homeschool because he was very anxious going to school. He is now in 7th grade. Not at grade level academically but still a very bright and intelligent boy. We are very… read more

Has Anybody Heard Of Cindy Hebbard: Freedom For Autism?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

So, I saw this add for a program for our kids that claims 100% positive results. Apparently, it is tailored to each individual child to take specific steps to improve their behavior, diets, social skills, etc. without the use of ABA. I had a one on one call with the founder last week and she claims to have a daughter on the spectrum that has learned to thrive through her program and her website touts other testimonials of people who have seen social, emotional, and verbal improvements in their… read more
