My 7 yr. old son who has been diagnosed with autism, ptsd, and overall general dd has been showing many signs of schizophrenia. Both sides of the family have many mental illness diagnoses but nobody has seen symptoms like this at such a young age. I don't have any first-hand experience, but I do remember reading about links between autism and schizophrenia a couple of months ago. You may want to google autism and schizophrenia relationship, but I included a link to one of the stories below.

Autism used to be considered childhood schizophrenia. My dad has a cousin with schizophrenia so I would not be surprised if there is a genetic link between the two conditions.
