the other article I read the use was in an extremely violent autistic child.

There could be other unknown issues as well. A friend; her autistic son only ate goldfish and something else for months, I can't remember, but it was 2 items. They took him to the dentist, he had 7 cavities, had a root canal and some dental attention, and she said he immediately started eating a wide variety of foods and was searching the frig asking for chicken.

We are dealing with this more and more with my three-year-old little guy. The possibilities of what could happen are terrifying. I did some research and shared it in the following post. Hope this helps. Stay strong! http://he-is-not-his-diagnosis.blogspot.com/201...

I don't believe that marijuana is the answer for a eating disorder. Just get some iron pills. I did for my 3yr old and it gradually increased his appetite for more food, which allows for you too offer more of a variety. However, my son gas not yet found a atleast a half or complete love for meat as of yet but, I'm working on it.

I agree also. When I read the story, I was so uplifted and thought of a quick 6 former students that might be helped by it. I keep thinking - More research! More studies! And that we all need to keep trying - with the help of Drs and autism support specialists.

I do believe the CNN story and the efficacy with respect to the seizure/epilepsy in autism - and vast improvement in the quality of life (going from 300 seizures/week to less than 10 in several months is quite dramatic). It is legally approved for that use where we live, and there is also pharma drug with same active ingredients that has been approved where we live (still waiting FDA approval). It is not for us since we don't have any obvious seizure activity, but any child having hundreds of seizures a week that cannot be controlled with pharma drugs, should obviously talk to their neurologist about it.
