Why won't auditory clinics test autistics kids for auditory processing disorder? Our child clearly has it and our speech therapist thinks it would give a great bunch of info for ameliorating his difficulties if we knew more precisely what gets scrambled.
No I talked to the psychologist a few times about literature but she hasn't responded. There is treatment. Not sure what.
Another question is "What is the treatment for CAPD?" I know my son has this but every professional I talk to, doesn't seem to know how to treat that. Are you aware of any good books on the topic?
On the other hand , his CAPD problem is following directions---how complicated is the interaction? How can people with CAPD follow directions?
Both my children are very high functioning and go to,regular public school.
My oldest (not on the spectrum) did the first part of the CAPD testing and it was lengthy & required a high degree of interaction between her and the audiologist. Unless your child is very high-functioning, I think it might be difficult to get accurate results.
