Hippotherapy (horses) is pretty wonderful. I bring my girl to a ranch that works with kids who have special needs. She gets 2 hours of one on one training riding horses and taking care of the farm animals. It made a huge difference for her.

Floortime, SonRise and RDI are all natural play based therapies. These may be more effective for some. Just going to normal preschool and imitating peers is also a great way to learn and develop skills.

Different therapy seems to work for different kids. ABA is the "gold standard" because it seems to work in more cases than most any other therapy, but some kids do not respond.

If you are seeing slow response with ABA, consider looking into sensory integration. There are a bunch of different methods that combine elements of both, such as floor-time, music therapy, and so on.

If you are looking into alternative therapy methods, I would recommend that you start with ABA and add anything else as needed.
