What Are Advantages And Disadvantages For 18 Year Old In Terms Of Diagnosis Now
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is college age but has had so many health issues since adoption at 1, PTSD, epilepsy, brain surgery, ADHD, anxiety and more so Aspergers symptoms were masked until now. What are advantages and disadvantages for her life in terms of diagnosis now in terms of jobs, college possibilities, discrimination etc.

Are there social security benefits for students with aspergers? Our medical and tutoring bills are enormous?

Thanks for the responses. We've been dealing with general health issues, but am now focussing in on next steps. In the process of getting an assessment for aspergers. Whoville, once diagnosed, is there any help that we can get for my daughter? With so many diagnoses over the years and the epilepsy and brain surgery, it has taken until she's 19 to realize that the cluster of all of the issues seems to add up to high functioning aspergers. It's been so confusing for her and for me as a parent. She's having a great deal of difficulty accepting her limitations and is angry and depressed most of the time. She is fortunate in terms of being a gifted musician and able to be in college right now. But, how can I continue to help and support her?
