Has anyone ever experienced their child having or seeming to have psychosis or episodes where their child just seems completely out of touch with reality or in their own world? This happened to my daughter today at school...she didn't come in from recess and it took the team nearly an hour trying before we got the call. she was in her own world and saying that animals were talking to her (she was conversing with the imaginary animals.) Hearing imaginary voices is not a typical symptom of ASD. You might want to talk to a psychologist and get an evaluation to see if this is something to worry about.
It sounds more like schizophrenia.
I'm not sure if it's a entirely bad thing. We been asked if our daughter can pretend play but she hasn't. I never had an imaginary friend because I came from a big family so there wasn't any room.

If she's seeing things that aren't there and can't tell between reality and fantasy that's not common for ASD.
I would take her to a neurologist immediately. She may be having absent seizures.
