I recently received a call from DDA services wanting to set up and Individual and family service plan (IFSP) for my son. Has anyone ever had this and does anyone know what this would entail? Or how I should prepare?
I just finished a class on IEPs & IFSPs. An Individualized Family Service Plan supports the family as you make decisions regarding his education & whether he needs additional services. They will connect you with therapists such as speech, occupational or physical therapy & whatever else he needs. It's wonderful because it takes so much has pressure of off you. You will have a specific person that you can contact whenever you need him/her. Also, they will connect you with support groups or counseling if you need it. As far as preparing, I'm not sure about that. Call them and see what they require for the initial meeting. Hope this was helpful.
Thanks Jennifer :)
