My insurance is self funded, so they do not cover ABA therapy in Texas. After speaking with someone in a provider's office, I was considering opening a 2nd insurance policy on my daughter that would cover ABA therapy. I wondered if anyone else has done this, or considered it, and if they found it to be a cost effective way to obtain this therapy? Should I wait a year and opt out of employer provided coverage for my daughter before I open a 2nd policy?
Hi Stacy I am on the same boat I have insurance that is self funded as well but I did get him additional insurance. It is deffinately cost effective. It costs me about 260/month but if I didn't have it therapies will be About 1500 per WEEK. If u can afford additional insurance get it. The sooner u start ABA the better
@A MyAutismTeam Member, would you mind sharing how it went with United HealthCare for ABA coverage? I would also like to know how old is your child. I am looking for an individual insurance for my kid.
After speaking with a couple of parents and an insurance broker, I wound up going with United Health Care. If you are looking at doing this, the deadline for 2015 is Feb. 15!
Do you mind me asking what insurance you got?
