Pediatrician Vs Behavioral Pediatrician
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does your child (if diagnosed with ASD ) see a regular pediatrician, behavioral pediatrician or neurologist to follow up with his diagnosis? I feel like my pediatrician isn't extremely well versed in autism, so was wondering what others did.

My children have a regular Pedi although he is well versed in ASD and other disabilities. He is great and if he does not know something he will ask other doctors. He will also consult with the children's specialists when needed. We also have the ability to send emails and converse with him by way of our medical centers online portal. This is the reason we are in the Northeast, medical care and services for ASD are great here.

Any caring and understanding doctor will work but you also have to have specislits as well. It is best if they all will consult with each other but that is not as easy to find.

We see both. My son's main "physical" issues are sinus and allergy related. So we talk about his "nose doctor" and his "brain doctor."
