IVIG
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone's child tried Ivig for elevated antibodies?
We just found out our son has two elevated enzymes. One is GAD 65 and the other is Cam kinase II.

We haven't but I do believe it is worthwhile if your insurance will cover it. In pilot IVIG trials, it seemed to help about 10% of ASD cases. For cases of certain regressive autism triggered by febrile infection (such as anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis), IVIG and steroids have been shown to,reverse ASD symptoms as well. Also, there may be other strategies that one can look at on the over expression of the two enzymes (e.g. calcium channel blocker).
