Am I Being To Cautious With My Youngest 15 Months
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I feel as if I might be seeing things and over analyzing them because of my other children and because of working 1 to 1 with children who have disabilities. My youngest whose 15 months has had a complete personality change and has regressed she is no longer talking... She does not engage she never seems happy unless she is watching phineas and ferb. She just wonders around humming when anyone says her name she will not even acknowledge them and if she does its very brief. I know she can hear… read more

Losing a skill (like speech) at her age calls for immediate action. While it's not time to panic, it is time to schedule an evaluation ASAP. My suggested first step would be to contact your state's early intervention program for the evaluation. Also get your daughter seen by a developmental pediatrician. What does your regular pediatrician think?

I agree contact early intervention and get the evaluation done. I would not get really worried about it, it may be autism but it may not. There is not much you can do until you know for sure. You are not going to get services if there has not been an evaluation or diagnosis so if you are worried about wasting time you are not.

Try to keep engaging the child and see if there are any other sum times you might be missing. Try to think of something that might have changed bringing on the behavior change. Anything you find out will be useful information at evaluation.

Yes as soon as you can get her evaluated the better there is so much more out there now. My son had every diagnosis under the sun until he was in his 30's now he's PDD (Autism).
