Best Way For Diagnosis
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

What is the "best" way to have your child diagnosed with ASD? My small town doesn't have much, a great pediatrician that we see and one psychologist that is primarily for adults. She doesn't take our insurance. Can a pediatrician diagnose? My son is not an "obvious" candidate, but I truly feel he is on the spectrum and have used strategies that have been proven to work with spectrum children and they work wonders with him. I guess my question really is, where do I start?

Get referral to specialist who has expertise with kids and can actually diagnose even if out of town. That is usually neurologist, development pediatrian or psychologist.

Well you might want to start with your Pediatrician and have them refer you to a good neurologist depending on where you live, there may also be an intermediate school district that specializes in this area as well. You could call you local school district and ask them as well for help as to if they offer help with this
