I am heartbroken! After being diagnosed with ASD two weeks ago, the school where he was diagnosed (The Scott Center for Autism Treatment) offered us a two month scholarship to get our 24 month old son in ABA treatment right away. He's been going for 15 hours/week for the last 10 days, and we just found out that our insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal) will not cover ABA or ANY other treatment for Autism. Effective august 2017, bcbs fep have to include ABA as a covered treatment

Yes you need to check with Medicaid in your state there are quite a few that are now covering ABA. They may make you get a denial from your primary first to pay but they will. Contact them because you will need to apply for Medicaid first before they will pay though.

Is your state an ABA therapy mandated state? If so, apply and wait. If not, you can purchase a coverage on the open market that covers ABA treatment. Not the cheapest, but better that the whole amount. I understand your frustration. I have been dealing with the state getting ABA for my son and so many incompetent people "advocating" for my son isn't working. The only people who knows whats is best for my son is me. But I have no say in the matter. How frustrating. Sorry, I didn't mean to vent.
