I'm having a hard time finding a lot of kids that were diagnosed so young. Every time I took him for a test or eval and even when he received his diagnosis it was always "he's so you" "you're getting him in early" "getting a diagnosis this young is great" is it really that out of the norm?
I noticed something was wrong around 18 mos, however he was officially diagnosed at 2yrs..
I have an appointment to get my son diagnosed with ASD... he will be 18 months then.
My daughter got diagnosed at 19 months, but I knew at 15 months, she started services at 15 months. Early intervention is the best. She went from moderate autism to mild in a year. She will be 3 in February.
We didn't find out that early, but we were ignoring all the signs that early. We were in denial until this October and she will be 3 next week
The earlier the better and they can diagnose at that age. Sometimes they don't want to because they are not sure especially if it is a doctor who is not familiar with autism. The fact is the earlier you find out the earlier you can get therapy. The earlier you start the better off the outcome will be.
You could take your child to a specialist like a neurologist if you want sometimes they are better equipped to do this.
