Can you advise what things you can ask for on IEP. Grandson is in kindergarden and having issues. He is speech delayed and under benchmark for this time of year.

Frankly yes. When I was in school a long time ago there as kid in my class that said some odd stuff and later he ended up in a special ed class. That kid seemed more functional than my daughter so I can understand why the teachers and therapists steered her into special ed. Parents tend to think their kid is more talented than he or she really is. My thinking is if expectations are so low while my daughter is kindergarten, then we can't mess up her education much. We are pulling her out of the free public education system and putting her into a private one-on-one place that does ABA therapy for $5,500/yr which is a bargain compared to $24,000-$40,000/yr people were paying in Georgia. I'm not slamming special ed teachers but when you pay for anything yourself it is usually better than "free" services. My daughter is going from teacher to student ratio of 4.5 to 1 so hopefully we will see some the results I've read so much about on this website.
