So my son is in the 2nd grade and has been having a lot of issues with his current placement (mixed special ed class). He also has a one on one district aid with no prior experience ( I am currently dealing with requesting a non public aid with experience ). hello, if u get an answer please pass the info. to me. however, I have learned there are "regional" schools which is public school with education classes in the building (which includes a mix of special needs); and then there are " special needs" schools which are schools dedicated to only "special needs" kids (a mix of all special needs). if u find that, the "regional/public" is not working for him, you may need to get an advocate to help you fight his iep and have an option to get into a special ed school (most of these are private and as the person answered above they are very hard to get into) also look up some of the schools and see if they have a "lottery" system. you may can place him on a list
